How We Make Money

The short version

Yuppie Plaza is free to read. We don’t charge for access, we don’t run memberships and we don’t sell clothes. Money comes from one place: affiliate commissions.

How the commissions work

Some of the product links in our guides and listings go to Amazon. When a reader clicks through and completes a qualifying purchase, Amazon pays us a commission. The shopper’s price does not change. At the moment the site shows no display ads, so affiliate income is the only revenue.

Why this model

We wanted an arrangement where readers never hit a paywall and where we never have to hold inventory or ship an order. Affiliate links gave us that. The honest downside is that the site earns when people buy, and that can tempt any publisher to push products. Naming the risk is the first step in managing it.

What we do about the temptation

  • We write from manufacturer specifications, public product information and buyer feedback rather than from commission rates.
  • The Yuppie Plaza Editorial Team reviews every article before publication and checks the claims against sources.
  • Commission size plays no part in deciding what gets covered or how it is described.

You can read the process in the Editorial Policy. The formal disclosure, which includes the required Amazon Associates statement, is on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

In practice, that means a guide can name a product that earns us nothing, and it can steer you away from one that would. The aim is for you to be able to tell, from the text alone, that no one paid for what you are reading.

No pay for praise

Yuppie Plaza does not take payment for favorable coverage. A brand cannot purchase a glowing write-up or a better spot in a roundup. We have no sponsors or partners to announce. If anything changes, we will update this page.

If you would like to ask us about any of this, write to contact@yuppieplaza.com.
